Coursmos 2015: A Year of Changes

Hey guys,

Hope you are all doing great!

This is not an ordinary blog post and this is not an ordinary time of year. As we near the Christmas holiday and the New Year, we come together with family and friends to joyously celebrate with one another as well as to reminisce over the past year – the wonderful victories, successes and happy memories as well as the failures, losses and lessons learned. Here at Coursmos, we too like to honor this tradition and, as a Coursmos CEO, I am thrilled to take a moment to look back at 2015 and share what the year has meant to the Coursmos team.

Coursmos: Open Education Platform

As they often say in New Year speeches, “This year was a tough one.” However, despite the troubles and stress, Coursmos made huge steps forward as a service and as a brand. We pivoted our strategy, stepped away from the MOOC and micro-course service, and with the help from our investors, Altera Investment Fund and business-angel Evgeny Medvednikov, launched our new Open Education Platform that allows us to spread and monetize vital knowledge worldwide. Results we got for the first 20 days from the launch of the new platform amazed us all. If we summarise contracts and deals that are in development process now and soon will be signed, within these 20 days we made more than for the last 6 months before the launch of the new platform.

Instructors & Students: A New Way to Educate and Learn

As an all-in-one education platform, our instructors can share and monetize their knowledge utilizing customizable designs, domain names and tools to offer more than just online courses. Instructors even have the opportunity to create various types of video, audio and SCORM courses, screen-capture and record courses right from their computers as well as attach presentations, files and documents. Talk about a huge step forward in terms of features for online instructors!

Speaking of features, they truly seem endless on the new platform. Instructors can create tests, surveys and certificates in addition to their online courses. They also enjoy student-acquisition tools and programs that help drive targeted students to their paid courses, certificates and more. We’ve even added social interaction to the platform so instructors can see their students’ social profiles, which gives them a better idea of who their students are as well as the opportunity to communicate directly via the built-in messenger. Soon, instructors will enjoy student management tools, a landing page builder, subtitles and social network integration on their platforms.

Students reap the benefits as well! With countless organizing tools at their fingertips, students can schedule their learning process, join course-related discussions and subscribe to a variety of different instructors and courses to ensure they never miss out on the latest offering and update! Soon, Coursmos students will even be able to share their Coursmos success stories and certificates on social sites like LinkedIn, oDesk and Elance!

Taking Coursmos to the Corporate Level

In addition to private instructors and training businesses, the Coursmos platform is an excellent solution for universities and colleges as well as companies who are looking to educate and certify their employees. During 2015, we continued to gather vital business courses to build our corporate training package that we now offer with over 5,000 business-related courses, which we are excited to launch publicly in the near future.

The Coursmos App

In 2015, we finished iOS and Android app development. These apps will become an easy-to-use tool for students who want go get knowledge on the go – anytime, anywhere. We have also localized our web platform and mobile apps to Chinese, Russian and Spanish languages with plans to add Portuguese, German, French, Italian and Korean in 2016.

Coursmos in 2016

In 2015 we established a key partnership in the Japanese market where we landed our first clients to include large corporations, companies, training centers and universities. Because of our success, we plan to expand our partnership network to China, Russia, Ireland, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia in 2016.

In the beginning of 2016, we will finish our certification at the Stanford University Certification Centre and will establish an online-course partnership with Amazon and other leading MOOC-aggregators around the world.

As for our first quarter development plan in 2016, we are excited to launch author-oriented features such as webinars, personal consultations, offline event ticket sales, coupons and affiliate programs to sell content, run a blog, or sell books.
